Interfaith Weeks

Learning about different faiths and cultures is at the heart of our RE curriculum. At Styal Primary School, we celebrate Interfaith Week every year, giving children the opportunity to explore and learn about different religions, beliefs and cultures from around the world. Through engaging activities, discussions and shared experiences, pupils develop their understanding of the diverse world in which we live. In previous years, we have explored wedding traditions from around the world, how different faiths care for others, traditional and religious clothing, and how different religions and cultures celebrate and welcome new life.

Interfaith Week encourages children to ask questions, share their own thoughts and beliefs, and develop an understanding of both the similarities and differences between religions and worldviews. We want our pupils to recognise that, although people may have different beliefs and traditions, many share important values such as kindness, compassion, fairness and helping others. By exploring these themes, children develop empathy, respect and tolerance, learning to appreciate diversity and celebrate what makes individuals and communities unique.

Our aim is to nurture thoughtful, open-minded and respectful young people who understand the importance of treating everyone with dignity and who are encouraged to consider how they can make a positive difference to others and the wider community.
