01.02.19 Rec/Yr1

An interesting week learing about Chinese New Year, the children used toy animals to act out the story of how the years were named. They also made some very sparkly lanterns.

In maths tthe Reception children have  benn finding 1 less than and 2 less than a given number and the Yr1 s have been subtracting bigger numbers using different strategies.

They have also done some fabulous literacy work - writing the story of Jack and the beanstalk.

Reception's new phonic sounds are oo and igh - please keep hearing them read at home as it does really help them to get better.
