Joanne Hudson

Chair Of Governors

As the General Manager for Quarry Bank Mill, it is an honour and privilege to pick up the baton as Chair of Governors at this unique school founded by the Greg family.

I have 2 Masters Degrees- 1 in Human Resources and Legislation and 1 in Museums and Heritage.

My role at Quarry Bank Mill means that I am accountable for finance, conservation and risk management, people and making sure everyone feels welcome and included. All of this helps me bring skills and experience to support Louise and her wonderful team so that the children of Styal are happy and have the right opportunities to help them grow to 'Believe and Achieve'.

When I am not at work, I enjoy archaeology, walking and music- I sing with the Preston Orpheus Choir with far more enthusiasm than ability.

I am pleased to have the opportunity to take an active role as the Chair and learning and achievement Chair within a dedicated team of Governors for setting the school's vision, ethos and strategic direction that offers both support and challenge to the senior leadership team.

Striving to assist the school to ensure that every child receives the best educational experience, benefiting from our unique environment that is supportive, friendly and safe, giving confidence to learn and enjoy learning.

My son attended school and I live in the village.

My professional training is as a Textile designer, working for many years within the manufacturing sector.

I enjoy spending time with my family, anything 'Arty' and watching sport (but not playing it!)

Louise Boardman, Headteacher

I am proud to be leading Styal Primary School. This is a truly special school where everyone matters and everyday matters. We are a small school with a family atmosphere.

Before working at Styal, I worked in a large, two form entry school in Bolton. I have been a teacher for eighteen years - a vocation I truly love. I was assistant head and then deputy head in a previous primary school and now feel truly privileged to be the headteacher of Styal Primary School since September 2020.

Amy Yardley

Staff Governor

I am honoured to be a part of the school’s governing body, striving for excellence for our lovely school and wonderful children. I trained as an Associate Teacher in 2016 and was thrilled to be back working here as a teacher 2 years later.

I have a real passion for the teaching of Reading and Writing, facilitating the learning of fundamental skills, that children will rely on right into their adult lives. I feel privileged to be the school’s English Subject Lead.
