Helen Smith

  • Head Teacher
  • All committees

I am so proud to be the Headteacher at Styal Primary. It is a fantastic little school with a lot going on !

We pride ourselves at Styal on our family atmosphere. Everyone one knows and looks after each other. We value the individual and make sure they are able to reach their potential –socially, emotionally and academically.

I have been teaching in primary schools for 20 years now and have been a Headteacher for 9 years. 7 years of this has been as head at Styal. I have also worked in a variety of different schools in Poynton and Macclesfield. I love all sports and used to swim competitively for Manchester. At the weekend I love to spend time with my 3 children, walking and of course swimming.

Eleanor works for the National Trust and is the General Manager at Quarry Bank Mill, with responsibility for the visitor attraction, the tenanted properties in the village, and the beautiful 400 acre Styal Estate.  She’s been at Styal now for nearly six years.  Eleanor studied History at York University, going on to work in the local newspaper business.  Her first job was at the Yorkshire Post, and she then worked in various locations and roles, including five years as Managing Director of the Cheshire-based Guardian Series Newspapers.   Redundancy from this role prompted her to change careers and join the National Trust.   Eleanor lives in Northwich, and has three children now in their early twenties.  She is a keen cyclist and loves being in the outdoors.
