This week in Year 3 and 4 ...
Date: 3rd May 2019 @ 1:45pm
What an active week we have had in year 3 and 4!
We started our week with our first class trip to Wilmslow Leisure Centre to begin our weekly swimming lessons.
"I had fun" - Olliver
"It was exciting!" - Amelie
"I am looking forward to next week" - Joseph
After enjoying ourselves getting wet, Wednesday brought with it the Wilmslow School Cross Country race. Lots of children in Year 3 and 4 completed the exhausting run with one child even bringing home a medal! :)
On Thursday as a whole class we travelled to Wilmslow High School to participate in a multi-skills circuit afternoon, led by the children of the high school. We were split in to different teams alongside other children from Wilmslow Primary Schools and focussed mainly on our Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed.
After all that excitement and sport, we still managed to fit in lots of fantastic learning too!
In Literacy this week we have been reading our class text "The Great Kapok Tree", which links nicely with our current topic of The Rainforest. We have been annotating the text to identify persuasive devices as well as writing our own persuasive passages from Rainforest animals, punctuating our direct speech and using a creative range of speech verbs.
As Mathematicians we have been learning to convert and compare lengths and heights in different units of measure. Year 3 have been focussing on mm, cm and m whilst Year 4 have been learning about cm, m and km.
As part of our topic we have created our own rainforest animal, that has features to adapt to live and surivive in all 4 layers of the rainforest!
A very busy week indeed, which means our weekend is well deserved.
Have a lovely weekend, from all of Year 3 and 4 :)
